Chokri Cherif

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Chokri Cherif born in Bourouis, Tunis, studied at the RWTH Aachen University, Germany. He holds a diploma degree in mechanical engineering and economics.

From 2002 to 2005 he worked at the Swiss company Rieter Ingolstadt Spinnereimaschinenbau AG, where he was most recently head of the development and design department.

In 2005, he was appointed Professor of Textile Technology at the Technical University of Dresden (TUD), where he also became Head of the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Materials Technology (ITM). 

From 2010 to 2013, he was President of the International Association of Universities for Textiles - AUTEX, and Vice President from 2013 to 2015.

Over the past years he has received numerous awards. Together with Manfred Curbach and Peter Offermann, he received the German Future Prize for Technology and Innovation in 2016 for his work with carbon concrete (The fascinating material carbon concrete - economical, gentle, beautiful).
